(Friday, June 3, 1988, noon EDT)Big, an American fantasy comedy film about a 12-year-old boy who is transferred into the body of a 35-year-old man through a carnival wishing machine, was released today, opening first at the National Twin and two other theaters in Manhattan.

Directed by Penny Marshall and produced by James L. Brooks and Robert Greenhut, the film starred Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Perkins, Robert Loggia and John Heard.
