Fairbanks, the 26th Vice President of the United States from 1905 to 1909, during the administration of President Theodore Roosevelt, and the 1916 Republican vice presidential nominee (on a ticket with Charles Evans Hughes), died tonight of nephritis in his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. Fairbanks was 66.
