(Tuesday, June 11, 1968, 3:30 p.m.-12:15 a.m. BST) — Paul McCartney, with John Lennon present (George Harrison and Ringo Starr were in California to film Harrison’s appearances in Ravi Shankar’s documentary Raga) recorded his song “Blackbird” for The Beatles’ “White Album” today at EMI Studio in London.

Portions of the session, which also included an acoustic run-through of the song “Helter Skelter,” were filmed for an in-house promotional feature presenting The Beatles’ new company, Apple.
