Video: 'Dan Quayle 1988 VP nomination acceptance speech'
(Thursday, August 18, 1988, scheduled for 8:25 p.m. CDT; during the 1988 Republican National Convention) — Senator Dan Quayle of Indiana accepted the Republican vice presidential nomination tonight at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, predicting that a victory by Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis would guarantee fewer jobs.
Earlier in the evening, Quayle was nominated on the ticket with Vice President George H.W. Bush by voice vote, rather than a roll call.
Bush would accept the Republican presidential nomination later in the evening.
