(Wednesday, September 4, 1968, scheduled for noon CDT; during the campaign for United States presidential election of 1968) — In contrast to the disturbances that marred the Democratic National Convention in Chicago the previous week, Chicagoans by the hundreds of thousands turned out today to greet Republican presidential nominee Richard M. Nixon, his wife and his daughters as they drove through the streets under a relentless and occasionally dangerous blizzard of confetti.
