(Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 8:37 p.m. EDT) — The Philadelphia Phillies won the 2008 World Series tonight beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, in the fifth and deciding game.

Game 5 had begun on Monday, Oct. 27, but was suspended in the sixth inning due to bad weather, which delayed resumption of the game until tonight.

It was the second of two World Series titles for the Phillies (1980-2008).
