(Saturday, April 26, 1969, 4:30 p.m.-4:15 a.m. BST; during sessions for Abbey Road) — The Beatles began work today on Ringo Starr’s “Octopus’s Garden” at EMI Studio 2 in London, taping 32 takes of the basic rhythm track.

Before they began, however, Paul McCartney made his first attempt to record a lead vocal for “Oh! Darling.”
