(Friday, May 9, 1969) — George Harrison of The Beatles released Electronic Sound, his second studio album, today in the UK (released May 26, 1969, in the U.S.).

The album is an experimental work comprising two lengthy pieces performed on a Moog 3-series synthesizer. It was one of the first electronic music albums by a rock musician, made at a time when the Moog was usually played by dedicated exponents of the technology.

Electronic Sound was only one of two albums (the other being John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions) released on Zapple Records, a sub label of Apple Records, a record label founded by the Beatles in 1968 as a division of the band’s company Apple Corps Ltd.
