(Friday, July 4, 1969) — The single “Give Peace a Chance”/”Remember Love” by Plastic Ono Band, a rock band formed by John Lennon of The Beatles and his wife, Yoko Ono, as a vehicle for their collaborative and solo projects, was released today in the UK (July 7, 1969, in the U.S.).

It was the first solo single issued by Lennon, released when he was still a member of the Beatles, and became an anthem of the American anti-war movement.
