(Saturday, August 2, 1969)Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions by John Lennon of The Beatles and his wife, avant-garde artist Yoko Ono, the couple’s second of three experimental albums, peaked at #174 on today’s Billboard Top LP’s chart for two weeks.

The album, whose title is a play on words of the BBC Radio show Life with The Lyons, was only one of two albums (the other being George Harrison’s Electronic Sound) released on Zapple Records, a sub label of Apple Records, which was founded by the Beatles in 1968 as a division of the band’s company Apple Corps Ltd.

It was recorded at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital in London and live at Cambridge University, in November 1968 and March 1969, respectively.
