(Sunday, August 10, 1969, approximately 2:00 a.m. PDT) — Supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, a dress shop co-owner, were murdered in their home in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles this morning, some 24 hours after the killing of five people at the home of film star Sharon Tate, on orders of Charles Manson, who had picked the LaBianca home at random.

Manson himself had driven to the LaBianca residence with six members of the Manson Family: Charles Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, Leslie Van Houten, Steve Grogan, Susan Atkins and Linda Kasabian.

Manson, who had entered the LaBianca home and tied up the couple, ordered Watson, Krenwinkel and Van Houten to go inside and kill the occupants.

While Watson cleaned off the bayonet he used in the murders and showered, Krenwinkel wrote “Rise” and “Death to pigs” on the walls and “Healter [sic] Skelter” on the refrigerator door, all in LaBianca’s blood.

Meantime, Manson, Grogan, Atkins and Kasabian left for Venice Beach to kill actor Saladin Nader, but Kasabian led them to the wrong apartment and the plan was aborted.
