(Sunday, August 31, 1969, 11:08 p.m. British Summer Time) — John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr of The Beatles and their respective wives watched Bob Dylan and The Band perform tonight at the Isle of Wight Festival at the English town of Wootton.

The fourth Beatle, Paul McCartney, was not present, as his wife, Linda, had given birth to their daughter, Mary only, three days before.

Around 150,000 people saw Dylan’s performance.

As well as three of The Beatles, the audience included Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Syd Barrett, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Jane Fonda.
