(Saturday, November 8, 1969, 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST)Night Gallery, an American anthology television series featuring stories of horror and the macabre, debuted tonight as a pilot film on NBC (click here to watch the full program).

Created by Rod Serling, the film starred Joan Crawford, Ossie Davis, Sam Jaffe, Richard Kiley, Roddy McDowall and Barry Sullivan.

The second segment of the film, titled “Eyes,” featured the directorial debut of a 22-year-old Steven Spielberg.

Night Gallery would debut as a regular series on Dec. 16, 1970.
