(Friday, December 19, 1969)The Beatles’ Seventh Christmas Record: Happy Christmas 1969, the band’s seventh and final Christmas record, was released today to members of their fan club in the UK.

The disc, recorded separately by each Beatle in late November to early December, was the group’s final “performance” by all four members during John Lennon’s lifetime as the band had effectively split by this point.

This last message featured mostly Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, at their Tittenhurst Park estate, where they play “what will Santa bring me?” games.

George Harrison and Ringo Starr appeared only briefly, the latter to publicize his recent film, The Magic Christian, while Paul McCartney sang his original ad-lib, “This is to Wish You a Merry, Merry Christmas.”
