(Wednesday, January 14, 1970, 2:30-5:30 p.m. BST) — Ringo Starr of The Beatles completed recording “Sentimental Journey” today at Olympic Sound Studios in London.

American producer Richard Perry had recorded the backing track in America in late 1969, with guitar, bass, drums, piano, accordion, clarinet, saxophone, strings, autoharp and backing vocals.

Today, Starr recorded his lead vocals, double-tracking during the middle eight section.

The recording would become the title track for his debut solo album Sentimental Journey.
