(Tuesday, January 27, 1970, 7:00 p.m.-3:00 a.m. BST) — John Lennon, who had privately informed his fellow Beatles on Sept. 20, 1969, that he was leaving the group, completed his second studio recording as a solo artist tonight, recording “Instant Karma!” at EMI Studio 2 in London.

The track also featured fellow Beatle George Harrison on electric guitar, piano, and backing vocals.
