(Tuesday, February 9, 1960, shortly after 8:00 a.m. MST) — Adolph Coors Co. chairman Adolph Coors III, heir to the Coors Brewing Company, was shot to death today on Turkey Creek Bridge near Morrison, Colorado, during a botched kidnapping attempt. He was 45.

The man who killed him, escaped murderer Joseph Corbett Jr., would serve 19 years in prison.
