(Saturday, March 8, 1930, 5:15 p.m. EST) — William Howard Taft, the 27th president of the United States (1909–1913) and the tenth chief justice of the United States (1921–1930), the only person to have held both offices, died of heart disease today at his home in Washington.

Taft, who was 72, he became the first president and first member of the Supreme Court to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Mar. 11, 1930.
