(Thursday, April 2, 1970) — The Monkees completed “Acapulco Sun” and “It’s Got to Be Love” today at RCA in New York City, wrapping up recording sessions for Changes, the final studio album produced during the band’s 1960s era.

The album would be issued in June 1970 after Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork exited the band, leaving only Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones to fulfill the recording contract they had signed in the mid-1960s.

Changes, which did not appear on Billboard’s Top LPs chart until it was re-released in 1986, would be their last new album for Colgems Records and the group’s last album of all new material until 1987’s Pool It.
