(Saturday, June 17, 1950; during the Cold War)John Foster Dulles arrived in Seoul today on a State Department mission regarding U. S. relations with the Republic of Korea.

Dulles, Republican party foreign policy adviser to U.S. President Harry S. Truman, was scheduled to confer with South Korean President Syngman Rhee and also inspect the border area dividing South Korea and Communist-controlled North Korea.

He also will meet with members of a United Nations commission which has been investigating problems blocking the unification of North and South Korea.

Dulles will also be given an honorary degree at Seoul National University Monday.
