(Friday, October 2, 1970, 1:14 p.m. MDT) — One of two chartered twin-engine planes flying the Wichita State University football team to Utah crashed into a mountain today near Silver Plume, Colorado, killing 31 (14 of whom were Wichita State football players) of the 40 people on board.
