Video: 'I Lie Around (2018 Remaster)'
(Monday, October 19, 1970; during sessions for Ram) — Paul McCartney today recorded “I Lie Around” at Columbia’s Studio B at 49 East 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, for Ram, his second album without The Beatles.
“I Lie Around” did not appear on Ram, but was completed with overdubs in mid-November 1972 and appeared on the B-side to McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” single, released June 1, 1973.
Early mixes had McCartney singing vocals on the entire song, but by the time it was released, the first two verses featured lead vocals by guitarist Denny Laine, a member of his new band, Wings, while McCartney sang the third verse.
The basic tracks for the Ram album, officially credited to Paul and Linda McCartney (McCartney’s wife), were taped through Nov. 20, 1970, with overdubs and mixing completed by May 1971.
