(Friday, January 29, 1971; during sessions for Ram) — Paul McCartney today recorded overdubs onto “Smile Away” at A&R Studios in New York City, during sessions for Ram, his second album without The Beatles.

Recording of “Smile Away” began Nov. 16, 1970, at Columbia’s Studio B at 49 East 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan. In March-April 1971, the track received additional overdubs and was mixed at Sound Recorders Studio in Los Angeles for release on May 17, 1971.
