(Saturday, May 23, 1981) — “All Those Years Ago,” by former Beatle George Harrison, a tribute to his late former bandmate, John Lennon, who murdered last year by a deranged fan (with former Beatles Ringo Starr on drums and Paul McCartney on backing vocals, recorded separately) debuted at #33 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“All Those Years Ago” was the first recording on which Harrison, McCartney and Starr all appeared since the Beatles’ “I Me Mine” in 1970.

It was Harrison’s 11th appearance on the chart since The Beatles broke up in 1970.

The single was backed with “Writing’s on the Wall,” with both songs lifted from Harrison’s forthcoming album Somewhere in England.
