Paul McCartney’s new group Wings finish recording ‘I Am Your Singer’ for debut album 50 years ago #OnThisDay #OTD (Jul 29 1971)

(Thursday, July 29, 1971) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his brand new British-American rock band, Wings, returned today to EMI Studios (Abbey Road) in London for a fourth day of recording sessions for what would become the group’s debut album, Wild Life, which would be released Dec. 3, 1971.

The band, which also included McCartney’s wife, Linda, Denny Seiwell and Denny Laine, recorded overdubs for “I Am Your Singer,” which was begun July 24, 1971, concluding the first round of recordings for the group, which began July 24, 1971.

“I Am Your Singer” would be mixed Aug. 6, 1971, for the Dec. 3, 1971, release of the original album.

Recording sessions for the Wild Life album would resume on Oct. 2, 1971.
