(Tuesday, August 3, 1971) — Pleased by the sessions with his new group, former Beatle Paul McCartney announced today that he has formed a new as yet unnamed British-American band consisting of himself, his wife, Linda, who will play keyboards, drummer Denny Seiwell and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine.

The new band, which would eventually be named Wings, had begun recording it’s debut album on July 24, 1971, in London, having started work on eight songs by this date.

Sessions for what would become the Wild Life album would continue through mid-October 1971.
