(Sunday, October 3, 1971) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his new British-American rock band, Wings, returned to EMI Studios (Abbey Road) in London today, completing “Love Is Strange” with vocals and additional instrumentation overdubs for what would become the group’s debut album, Wild Life.

The band, which also included McCartney’s wife, Linda (who, just 20 days before, gave birth to the couple’s second biological child, Stella Nina McCartney, on Sept. 13, 1971), Denny Seiwell and Denny Laine, began recording the track on July 24, 1971. It would be mixed on Oct. 5, 1971, for the Dec. 3, 1971, release of the original album.
