(Monday, October 11, 1971) — “Imagine” by former Beatle John Lennon, #3 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 2004 list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time,” was released today as a single in the U.S. (it would not be released a single in the UK until 1975).

“It’s So Hard” was issued as the single’s B-side. Both songs were lifted from Lennon’s new album Imagine.
