(Saturday, February 10, 1962, event scheduled to take place from 7:30-11:00 p.m. GMT)The Beatles were filmed tonight performing at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church Hall on North Road in Tranmere, Birkenhead, England, a few miles southwest of their hometown of Liverpool.

The silent, jerky color footage shot on 8mm film is the earliest known moving images of the rising British rock music band, featuring guitarists John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and drummer Pete Best (who would be dismissed Aug. 16, 1962, and replaced by Ringo Starr).
