(Monday, March 6, 1972) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his British–American rock band, Wings, held the first recording session for what would become the group’s next album, Red Rose Speedway, today at Olympic Sound Studios in London, tracking the song “Big Barn Bed.”

The song dates back to 1971, with the opening lines of the track constituting the coda to the “Ram On” reprise on the McCartneys’ album Ram. However, during the recording sessions for Red Rose Speedway, the song was recorded by the band for the new album.

The song would be mixed on Jan. 9, 1973, at EMI Studios, Studio Two, Abbey Road, for release on the album on Apr. 30, 1973.
