(Wednesday, March 7, 1962, 8:00-8:45 p.m. GMT) — British rock group The Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Best) recorded their radio debut tonight at the Playhouse Theatre, Hulme, Manchester, for the BBC Light Programme Teenager’s Turn – Here We Go.

The band rehearsed their set from 3:45 p.m. GMT. Together with the other three acts also appearing on the programme, the recording took place between 8:00-8:45 p.m. GMT.

Wearing their new custom tailored stage suits for the very first time (leathers and sweatshirts wouldn’t do any longer), The Beatles performed three cover songs: “Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream?),” “Memphis, Tennessee” and “Please Mister Postman.”

The show was broadcast the following day between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. GMT.
