(Monday, October 29, 1962, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time) — Twelve days after their television debut on the People And Places show, The Beatles returned to Granada TV Centre in Manchester today to tape a second performance for airing on Nov. 2, 1962, at 6:30 p.m. GMT.

Today’s appearance was rehearsed and recorded in Studio Four from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. GMT. The Beatles performed “Love Me Do,” their debut single released in Britain only 24 days before, and “A Taste Of Honey.”

The stage setting was unusual for The Beatles. During “Love Me Do,” John Lennon sang seated as if he were a solo performer fronting a band. The others in the group all stood.

During the second song, all members played their instruments, although wearing waistcoats rather than their suit jackets.

This edition of People And Places, unlike their first, was not broadcast live. It was shown in the north and north-west of England from 6.30-7:00 p.m. on Nov. 2, 1962, by which time The Beatles were back in Hamburg for their latest residency in West Germany, having flown out of their hometown of Liverpool on Oct. 30, 1962.
