(Wednesday, March 13, 1963, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. GMT) — The Beatles completed the B-side of their third single, “Thank You Girl,” today at EMI Studio 2 in London for release on April 11, 1963.

Primarily tracked on March 5, 1963, when the group recorded the single’s A-side, “From Me To You,” “Thank You Girl” was completed on this day with a harmonica overdub by John Lennon.

Lennon took 15 attempts to complete his harmonica part; these were numbered takes 14-28. Afterward, producer George Martin oversaw a complicated edit of takes 6, 13, 17, 20, 21, and 23, and mono and stereo mixes were then made.

Although just Lennon took part in the recording, the rest of The Beatles traveled from Bedford, where they had performed the night before, to London.
