(Tuesday, June 15, 1993) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney performed a concert tonight before an audience of 19,000 at Blockbuster Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina, which was broadcast live across the United States, with some songs replaced by commercials, by the Fox Television Network.

It was the 22nd and last stop (and 22nd and final performance) of the North American leg of his The New World Tour.

Two songs from the concert (“Good Rockin’ Tonight” and “Paperback Writer”) would be featured on the official tour CD Paul is Live, released Nov. 15, 1993, and the official tour video Paul Is Live – The New World Tour.

It would be McCartney’s last concert in the U.S. for nine years. By the time he returned to the road in 2002, The Beatles Anthology video series had been released, his wife of 29 years, Linda, and fellow ex-Beatle George Harrison had both passed away from cancer, and he was engaged to marry Heather Mills.
