(Tuesday, July 3, 1973, show scheduled for 8:00 p.m. British Summer Time) — Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr and his wife, Maureen, attended the farewell performance of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars, a character created by English musician David Bowie, tonight at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.

Ringo’s brief appearance with Bowie, who is putting on his make-up backstage in his dressing room, would appear in the D. A. Pennebaker documentary Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

The film premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival on Aug. 31, 1979, but would not be released worldwide into cinemas until Dec. 1983.

Ringo and Maureen also attended a party held after the concert which wasn’t filmed.
