(Wednesday, July 4, 1973, approximately 9:30 p.m. British Summer Time, following the 8:00 p.m. BST scheduled start time for opening act English pub rock band Brinsley Schwarz; during the Wings 1973 UK Tour) — Paul McCartney’s British-American band Wings launched the four-city, four-show second leg of the band’s 1973 UK tour tonight at Sheffield City Hall in Sheffield.

It was the 13th stop (and 18th show) of the band’s 16-city, 21-show tour of England, the largest tour yet for Wings, a group McCartney formed after the 1970 break-up of The Beatles.

Unlike the surprise appearances of the previous year’s Wings University Tour and the spontaneous nature of the follow-up Wings Over Europe Tour, here the tour was announced in a more normal fashion and fans could buy tickets ahead of time.
