(Monday, September 30, 1963, 10:00 a.m.-1:15 p.m. British Summer Time) — While The Beatles were on holiday abroad, the rock music band’s producer, George Martin, went back into EMI Studio Two today to work on seven tracks for their second album With The Beatles, completing the recording sessions for “Money (That’s What I Want).”

Today’s session started with an edit of “Little Child,” comprising elements of takes 15 and 18 (this track would be completed after band members returned from holiday on Oct. 3, 1963), followed by an edit of takes 26 and 29 of the “Hold Me Tight.”

Martin then recorded three unnumbered takes of piano onto “take 7” for the July 18, 1963, band recording of “Money (That’s What I Want),” which meant that the overdubs he did on July 30, 1963 (takes 8-14) were viewed as unsuitable.

Martin then recorded six takes of a Hammond organ overdub onto “I Wanna Be Your Man” – these were numbered takes 8-13, and the last of them was the best. Work on this track would resume Oct. 3, 1963, when The Beatles return from vacation.

Mono mixes were then made for five LP tracks, all of which the recording sessions had been completed on Sept. 11 or 12, 1963, except for “Little Child”: “All I’ve Got To Do” “Don’t Bother Me,” “Little Child,” “Hold Me Tight,” and “Not A Second Time.”
