(Saturday, February 8, 1936) — “Alone” by Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra (vocal refrain by Cliff Weston; recorded in NYC Nov. 7, 1935) peaked at #1 on today’s Your Hit Parade weekly music chart for three consecutive weeks (Feb. 8/15/22, 1936).

It was Dorsey’s third of 10 number one hits on the chart (1935-1940; Dorsey would go on to have an additional 3 number one hits on Billboard‘s Best Selling Singles chart (1940-1943).
