(Saturday, March 23, 1996) — “Real Love” by The Beatles peaked at #11 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for one week.
In 1995, John Lennon’s demo of the song was completed by his former The Beatles bandmates Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as part of The Beatles Anthology project, along with “Free as a Bird.”
“Real Love,” which opened The Beatles’ Anthology 2 album, was the last new Beatles song released in the lifetime of George Harrison, who died in 2001, and the last single by the group until “Now and Then” in 2023.
