(Saturday, May 22, 1976) — “Silly Love Songs” by (former Beatle Paul McCartney and his band) Wings peaked at #1 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for five non-consecutive weeks (May 22, June 12/19/26, July 3, 1976).

It was McCartney’s fifth of nine number one hits on the chart (1971-1983) after The Beatles (20 number one hits from 1964 to 1970).
