(Saturday, June 5, 1976, 11:55 a.m. MDT) — 11 people were killed today when the Teton Dam, an earthen dam in eastern Idaho built by the Bureau of Reclamation on the Teton River, suffered a catastrophic failure as it was filling for the first time.
