Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr reunite record ‘Pure Gold’ in Hollywood 50 years ago today (Jun 17 1976)

(Thursday, June 17, 1976) — On a day off from the Wings Over America leg of his Wings Over the World tour, former Beatle Paul McCartney and his wife, Linda, joined another ex-Beatle, Ringo Starr, today at the Cherokee Studios in Hollywood to dub backing vocals to McCartney’s “Pure Gold” for Starr’s next album Ringo’s Rotogravure.

Paul and Linda’s backing vocals were dubbed today onto Track 10 of Take 23 the recording, taped June 3, 1976, at Sunset Sound Studios, along with the unreleased “I Can Hear You Callin’.”

This reportedly concluded the album’s tracking sessions, although additional overdub/mixing work took place during unspecified dates during August–September 1976 in New York.
