The Monkees complete another batch of recordings 60 years ago this hour (Jul 16 1966)

(Tuesday, July 16, 1966, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.-midnight PDT) — The Monkees held another recording session this afternoon and evening at RCA Victor Studio A in Hollywood, working on the songs “The Kind of Girl I Could Love,” “All The King’s Horses,” “Papa Gene’s Blues” (alternative mix), “I’ll Be True to You,” “So Goes Love” “I Don’t Think You Know Me” (Mickey’s vocal), and “Let’s Dance On.”

“I’ll Be True To You” and “Let’s Dance On” would be released on the band’s debut album, The Monkees, on Oct. 10, 1966. “The Kind of Girl I Could Love” would be released on the band’s second studio album, More Of the Monkees, released on Jan. 9, 1967.

The rest of the songs tracked today would be released long after the band’s original 1960s run, between 1987 and 2006.
