The couple had two daughters before separating in 1992 and divorcing in 1996.

In later years, Andrew’s public life became dominated by his long-standing ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Giuffre alleged that she was trafficked to Andrew by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, claims he denied before settling her U.S. civil lawsuit in 2022 without admitting liability.

The controversy led to Andrew being stripped of his royal duties, military affiliations and patronages, leaving him with few official royal roles.
