Video: 'The End (2017 Remaster)'

(Friday, September 16, 1966, 7:00-10:00 p.m. PDT) — The Doors (Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore) complete the recording of “The End” for their debut album tonight at Sunset Sound Recorders, 6650 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.

Lead singer Jim Morrison initially wrote the lyrics about his breakup with an ex-girlfriend, Mary Werbelow, but it evolved through months of performances at the Whisky a Go Go into a much longer song.

“The End” was ranked at number 328 on 2004 Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”
