Video: 'Post-Nuremburg Executions and Hermann Goering's Suicide (1946)'

(Wednesday, October 16, 1946, times of death ranged from 1:30-2:59 a.m. CET; during the Nuremberg trials) — One by one, ten remaining Nazi war criminals on death row were hanged this morning in a gymnasium in the Nuremberg Palace of Justice premises.

Taking the place of former Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring (who had committed suicide in his cell only hours before on Oct. 15, 1946) as first in line was Joachim von Ribbentrop, 53, former minister of foreign affairs; followed by Wilhelm Keitel, 64, former field marshal and chief of the Armed Forces High Command; Ernst Kaltenbrunner, 43, former chief of the Reichssicherheitshauptamt; Alfred Rosenberg, 53, former Reich minister for the Occupied Eastern Territories; Hans Frank, 46, former governor-general of occupied Poland; Wilhelm Frick, 69, former minister of the interior; Julius Streicher, 61, former Gauleiter of Franconia and publisher of Der Stürmer; Fritz Sauckel, 51, former general plenipotentiary for labour deployment; and Alfred Jodl, 56, former chief of the Operations Staff of the Armed Forces High Command.

The last was Arthur Seyss-Inquart, 54, former Reichskommissar for the occupied Netherlands.
