McCartney completes filming ‘Take It Away’ video promo 30 years ago today (1982)

(Wednesday, June 23, 1982) — Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney today completed filming of a promotional video for his single Take It Away, released two days ago in the U.S. and Britain.

The video, shot at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, England, features former Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr and long-time producer George Martin, both of whom played on the track, as well as actor John Hurt.

(Saturday, May 15, 1982) — The album Tug of War by Paul McCartney (with appearances by Stevie Wonder and Carl Perkins) debuted on today’s Billboard 200 albums chart at number 15.

The album included Here Today, a tribute to McCartney’s former songwriting partner, Ex-Beatle John Lennon, who was murdered in December 1980.
