John Lennon sues the U.S. government 50 years ago today (June 16 1975)

(Monday, June 16, 1975) — Former Beatle John Lennon, fighting a 197 deportation order, filed suit today against the Justice Department, former Attorney John N. Mitchell and other officials, charging they singled him out for “improper selective prosectuion.”
