(Tuesday, March 1, 1938, evening GMT) — Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. the new United States Ambassador to Great Britain, arrived tonight in Plymouth, England, aboard the 24,189-ton luxury liner SS Manhattan to take up his new post.

Kennedy, who departed New York Harbor on Feb. 23, 1938, attended a reception in Plymouth and then headed for London via train.
