(Saturday, June 12, 1920) — Senator Warren G. Harding of Ohio was nominated President of the United States today at the 1920 Republican National Convention meeting at Chicago Coliseum in Chicago.

Harding won the nomination on the 10th ballot after defeating Major General Leonard Wood of New Hampshire by a vote of 692.2-156.

Wood received the most votes on the first ballot (287.5), but fell short of the votes needed to win the nomination.

Massachusetts Governor Calvin Coolidge was nominated for Vice President of the United States, defeating Wisconsin Senator Irvine Lenroot by a vote of 674.5-146.5.

The Harding-Coolidge Republican ticket would face Democrats James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt (nominated in July 1920) in the 1920 presidential election.
